Demo Rhino
Only for registered users
You can even create your geometric models for form finding with the excellent NURBS-program Rhinoceros 4.0:
To do so, just follow these instructions:
- Download the free export plugin:
Membranes24Export.rhp - Use the Rhino plug-in manager (_PlugInManager) to install the plug-in (please refer to the Rhino pages for additional information)
- Now it's your turn: Create the initial shape for your form finding procedure. After that, convert the generated surface into a mesh object using the polygon functionalities of Rhino.
Please note that up to now only membrane surfaces with fixed edges and no cables are available. Additionally, the maximum allowed node number is restricted to 1000. - Use the command "Membranes24Export" to generate a *.m24-file. During the procedure, you will be asked to specify the boundary conditions.
- Upload the generated *.m24-file in the DESIGN section of membranes24.com using the "Rhino design" template.
- After hitting "Calculate" and waiting for a few seconds, you will see your new shape.
- Using the import function of Rhino, you can use the created dxf for further design.
- PLEASE NOTE: This small plug-in is not Rhino-Membrane! As this plug-in is free it naturally lacks a lot of the many features implemented in the commercial software Rhino-Membrane! If you are interested in Rhino-Membrane instead, have a look here.
If you have any questions, please post them on the Forum. Thanks!!!
